WHAT DO WE WANT in Oud-Vossemeer ?
OUD VOSSEMEER's sign
We want:
-to rebuild THE ROOSEVELT HOUSE in my hometown in its former glory.
-add Roosevelt(history)-related items in the planned "Dorpsbos".(villageforest)
-change location of 1906 flood-monument (to corner Vierwindenstraat-Ring opposite small parking-lot) and adding presentation of flood of 1906,
also put up a mark on the orginial place where they entered Oud-Vossemeer. (Orginal mark was removed from its place!)
Queen Wilhelmina and Prins Hendrik visited Oud-Vossemeer.
-to rebuild the "travailje".
-to rebuild the "Batterie" and put up a presentation on the former location
of the fortresses Orange,Zeeland,Maurits and Zeeland.
(Dating back to around 1600)
-put up a presentation on the location of the former "St.Anthonius" chapel.
(Dating back to around 1400)
-rebuild the music-kiosks in Oud-Vossemeer (rebuilding near Rabo-bank), on Tholen and in Zeeland.
-rebuild other historic landscape-features, buildings and monuments in Zeeland
to regain sociability
and enhance village-life and opportunity possibilities for recreation compaies.
-to have the FOUR FREEDOMS AWARD presentation held in Oud-Vossemeer.
-to publish history of Oud- and Nieuw-Vossemeer, Ambachtsheerlijkheid and
Dutch Rosevelts.
-to publish the info on the roots of the USA Roosevelt's on the Internet.
-to publish info on the USA Roosevelt's, the presidents Theodore and Franklin Delano
Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt who was with FDR the founder and promoter of
the United Nations.

NL: Begin 2002 hebben wij met hulp van Recron, een aanvraag ingediend via Margot Tempelman van Bureau Toerisme Zeeland bij de Werkgroep van het Consortium
Vitaal Platteland om onze plannen mogelijk te maken. Pas in 2006 kregen wij te horen van de Werkgroep dat die aanvraag nimmer bij hen ter tafel is gekomen.
Deze is waarschijnlijk met de Middelburgse belangen t.a.v. de uitreiking van de Four Freedoms Awards vakkundig in de prullebak verdwenen.
Ondanks dat Recron (en wij via hun) van haar te horen kregen via emails dat onze plannen besproken zouden worden.
Zo kregen wij bij bespreking met de Dienst Landelijke Gebieden t.a.v. het dorpsbos te Oud-Vossemeer te horen dat onze plannen
in Middelburg niet goed waren gevallen.Dus onze plannen waren bekend in Middelburg maar zij beslisten dat onze aanvraag niet ingediend
zou worden

Probably with Middelburgse interests regarding the Four Freedoms Awards ceremony in mind our plans were moved skillfully into the wastebasket.
Although recron (and they informed me by email) was told our plan would be reviewed.
At a meeting with Dienst Landelijke Gebieden regarding. the forest to be build at Oud-Vossemeer that our plans didn't please Middelburg.
So they decided that our plans never would reach the Werkgroep van het Consortium Vitaal Platteland .
